The establishment of the Node for Film Praxis within the research laboratory InArts has been officially announced, marking a significant step forward in the development of practical research in cinema in Greece and fostering collaboration with international researchers. Dr. Iakovos Panagopoulos serves as the scientific coordinator of this initiative.
The Node for Film Praxis focuses on the transdisciplinary application of applied theory and media practice as collaborative methodologies. Its mission is to guide, train, and support researchers in film and media practice, combining multidisciplinary approaches to film directing, screenwriting, and producing with research in the humanities and social sciences. Particular emphasis is placed on ethnomediaology, practice-based research, ethnography, and autoethnography.
Members of the Node are actively engaged in research and creative sector grants, participating in various EU projects. The outstanding team includes esteemed academics and professionals such as:
- Professor Emeritus Erik Knudsen, honorary member
- Dr. Agata Lulkowska, Senior Lecturer in Film Directing and Producing
- Associate Professor Ioannis Deligiannis, specializing in Analog and Digital Technologies of Interactive Multimedia (Gaming and Gamification)
- Film industry professionals Lina Petrianou, Thanos Bikakis, and Thanos Tsiggas
The creation of the Node is a pivotal step in establishing film practice research in Greece and connecting it with international colleagues. It also reflects a commitment to advancing this field, which was a key motivator for returning to Greece from abroad. This initiative represents a promising beginning for the development of this research domain both locally and globally.
