Dr. Iakovos Panagopoulos, Associate Professor at the Department of Sound and Image Arts of the Ionian University, has been appointed as the Head of the Student and Educational Program of the International Documentary Film Festival of Peloponnese. The collaboration between the International Documentary Film Festival of Peloponnese and the Ionian University has been long-standing, formalized in 2020 with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation, involving the Department of Sound and Image Arts and the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting.

In recent years, Dr. Panagopoulos has distinguished himself for his contribution to the educational initiatives of the festival, including the successful StoryLab workshop, organized with Professor Erik Knudsen from the United Kingdom. The StoryLab workshop was held for two consecutive years and became a key component in training new creators, highlighting the concepts of narrative art in cinema. For this year’s festival, Dr. Panagopoulos organized the workshop “Crafting True Narratives: Mastering the Documentary” with Mark Bond, Rebecca Bond, Erik Knudsen, Chronis Theocharis, and Apostolos Loufopoulos.

His appointment as Head of the Festival’s Educational Program opens new possibilities, aiming to further strengthen the ties between educational and cinematic communities. His future plans include implementing workshops and lectures focused on contemporary cinematic techniques and narratives, incorporating interdisciplinary approaches.
